The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Drinking Water & Groundwater Bureau, in conjunction with the New Hampshire Water Works Association, is offering this educational course for owners, operators and other persons currently involved in, or looking to become involved in, the management and operation of small public drinking water systems. The course is designed to provide fundamentals on the theory and practical knowledge required to maintain and operate a small public water system. The course is specifically geared toward individuals interested in becoming certified water works operators in the State of New Hampshire. No prior experience is required. The course consists of four required classes to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. in Concord, NH, and one required daytime visit to an operational water works pump station in Franklin, NH. An optional session for the drinking water math review will also be offered. There is a course fee of $50 per person, which includes the course textbook and handouts. Be sure to bring a notebook, a pencil and a calculator to each class. Ten training contact hours (10 TCHs) will be awarded upon completion of the course. Partial credit is not given for partial attendance. For those individuals interested in becoming a NH certified water works operator, the next certification exam following this course will be offered on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the NHDES Building, 29 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH. Applications to take the Grade 1A (small system operator) Combined Distribution & Treatment exam will be provided during this course. A $50 fee, separate from the course fee, is required to take the exam. WATER WORKS OPERATOR CERTIFICATION EXAM PREPATORY COURSE

This course is comprised of three half-day sessions. It will benefit those who need help getting ready to take any level of operator certification exam. The many topics that will be presented include: regulations, water quality monitoring, laboratory procedures, water chemistry, treatment processes, treatment operation and maintenance, distribution, operation issues, administration, and calculations. Sample test questions will be used to review subject matter, build test taking skills, and evaluate attendee knowledge. Topics will be discussed in further depth according to attendee needs. Please bring a calculator. WHEN: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Tuesday, September 26, October 3 and October 10, 2017. Please arrive a few minutes early for registration. BASIC WATER WORKS MATH

This course is comprised of two half-day classes provide the needed mathematics concepts for public drinking water system operators. It will be particularly helpful to those preparing for operator certification examinations. The course’s goal is for participants to have a simple method to successfully solve word problems. Attendees will be working hands on and a calculator is needed. DAY 1: Mathematical operations: fractions, decimals, percentages, equations (formulas), converting units of measurement, and solving word problems. DAY 2: Word problems: area, volume, flow, velocity, pressure, chemical dosage, and various other problem types. WHEN: 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM on Thursday, October 5 and Thursday, October 12, 2017. 2017 MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS Supporting Membership SUPPORTING MEMBERSHIP is intended for engineers, officials, sales representatives, interested individuals, etc. and entitles them to receive NHWWA journals, NHWWA newsletters, meeting notices and attend meetings. Supporting Members cannot vote on NHWWA policies. The Supporting Membership application must accompany the $66.00 annual membership dues. Thereafter, dues are billed annually after November 1st (the beginning of our fiscal year). Utility Membership UTILITY MEMBERSHIP is held by NH water department personnel and water system personnel. It entitles the water department or water system to receive the journals, newsletters, meeting and all training notices and have a voting privilege. The Utility Membership application must accompany the annual membership dues. Thereafter, dues are billed annually after November 1st (the beginning of our fiscal year). Small Systems Membership SMALL SYSTEMS MEMBERSHIP for very small non-municipal community water systems serving less than 100 people. The $28.00 annual membership enables operators & owners to attend all our events at the membership price.
